Life of Pi wins best score at the Oscars

image

What an incredible journey culminating in an incredible night.

I wrote additional music for the score to Ang Lee’s “Life of Pi” and watched my mentor, Mychael Danna get called up to receive his first Academy Award. No matter how jaded I might get about Hollywood, it’s quite a feeling to be closely involved with something that gets recognition on that level. And to have Ang win best director right after that, how incredible! Pi has far surpassed expectations and taken in over $600M worldwide. For an artful, complex and winding film about the nature of man and god, that’s a pretty incredible achievement.

I salute Mychael, Ang and everyone else on the music team that was with us on the long and arduous journey. It was a great experience and everyone played at the top of their game. All the musicians in LA and around the world played beautifully, and the wonderful Fox music dept supported us so well.

Cheers and thanks!!
